Introduction #
In this video, I’m using a fictional website called Divi Device Repair and I’m going to show you how to edit your website and the various content. I’m also going to you go through and show you little bits and pieces through the series.
Logging In #
In this particular video, we’re going to start off very basic and we’re going to look at how to log in. So once you’ve gone to your website, you need to type in /mars (e.g. https://mysite.com/mars). When you do that, you’ll be taken to the Login URL. You’ll see a couple of things here.
First of all, is the Mars Digital logo. If you click on that, you’ll actually be redirected to the MarsDigital.me website where you can log in and you can submit support requests. You can also look at your project as well as this particular knowledge base video. So once you’ve got to this, and assuming you’re not going to the MarsDigital.me, type in your email address and your password. You can tick remember me if you like and then log in.
Your Dashboard #
Once you’ve logged in, you’ll be taken to a dashboard that looks similar to this. Bear in mind that this is actually a website and development. It’s just a fake site, so we don’t have all the bells and whistles on it yet. And it will only be added to an updated as we go forth. So one of the things that you might notice when you come to the dashboard is a variety of different widgets.
Here you can turn some of them on and off through these screen options. You’ll see these checkboxes here. There will be ones that will have information about your SEO. Here you might have a tracker to show the amount of visitors that have come to your website. You might also see one about security as well. This is just designed to give you some information on your website under Activity. This is where you’ll see things like blog posts and bits and pieces. You can also look at a glance here. You can see here that we’ve actually got search engines discouraged and that means that we’re telling Google we don’t want this website to show for basically anyone searching Google.
You can also see that it’s running WordPress6.0, which is the most recent vision. And it’s the Mars Digital Divi Child theme. And we’ve got three pages. So it’s actually these pages that we’re going to go into in the next video.
